Password Management

• Do you have difficulty in remembering the passwords to all of your on-line service accounts?

• Are your passwords simple or very similar and/or do you re-use the same password, because it's so hard to remember so many?

• Are all of your passwords written down in a little notebook you keep close to your Mac? Do you worry that you may lose this or it may be stolen?

• Are you aware of the risks posed by on-line service data leaks, especially if you re-use the same account name and password for more then one service?

• Do you worry or have you been advised that an on-line account password has been stolen or leaked?

Using Apple’s Safari browser together with the in-built Passwords app (part of the Key Chain service) allows you to ensure all your passwords are complex, secure and unique and that you never have to remember a password again.  

Once stored, Safari will detect the log-in page and and prompt you to chose a password from your Key Chain.  Once you have authenticated, your credentials are entered for you.

• Save account names and passwords entered in to the on-line service log-in page in the Safari web browser

• Using the on-line service Forgot Password facility, change your account passwords and then store

• Use the Passwords app to generate long, complex and unique passwords - this can be done at the time you change your password on the website

• Identify where stored passwords may have been subject to a data leak
