Typically, a 15-minute-or-so free consultation on the phone will be sufficient to understand your needs and agree the next steps.
This might be a recommendation for a session where we remotely access your machine (via Apple Screen Sharing, if you have an Apple ID) to obtain more information. Alternatively, we agree the best way forward is to get your Mac to us for a hands-on investigation, or else agree a suitable location to go through your issues and questions in person.
When we have agreed what course of action is needed, we will l provide a quotation with an estimate of my time and any hardware or software purchases required. We will usually quote more time than may be needed, so you have a clear view of the possible commitment you’re making – computers are often unpredictable. We only charge you the time we spend, to the nearest 15 minutes.
Most general software issues, system configuration, service set-up etc., can be performed remotely in usually one session although we may agree to spread the work over two sessions or more according to the time you have available and the scale of the work.
Where the work requires hands-on attention, such as hardware upgrades or repairs, we prefer to work at our premises. We can collect from you or you deliver to use, ideally in its original packaging.
Where the purchase of hardware or software licences is needed, we usually recommend that you buy the item yourself so that any warranty belongs to you.
You also can choose who you would like to buy it from, if that is important to you. For example, Amazon may be quick, offer free delivery and a little cheaper but the supplier pays a cost in lost revenue as commission.
We can recommend alternative suppliers from which you can buy direct.
We will also recommend new and/or second-hand alternatives available on eBay to suit your budget – we would always recommend buying where returns are accepted as a minimum.

If you’re not feeling well and suspect you may have the flu or a cold, we would ask that you let us know in advance and we postpone our visit or look to work together remotely.
Our rates are competitive and fairly reflect the nature of what we do.
The rate for a job does vary a little based on level of technical skills involved. Typically, most general advice and support, housekeeping, troubleshooting etc. (see Services) is charged at £30 per hour.
Our rates for hardware upgrades and replacements etc. are higher, depending upon the complexity of the job.

I offer a 2-week warranty on any faults with the work I carry out.
New hardware purchased would come with 12-month manufacturers’ warranty. Second-hand parts will come with a limited warranty from the seller, or covered by the shopping platform return policy (e.g. eBay).
I prefer payment up front for any purchases needed, unless I have your computer with me in which case it will be used as security for non-payment.
Payment is via bank transfer. I am not VAT registered.
